the above –restore-last-session also restores the session only cookies aka loggs you in automatically. I went back to using Firefox after this escapade.
Seems that Google has taken an attitude that they know what is best for their end users and that the end users should be thankful for whatever Google rolls out product wise. There are extensions that will save sessions but they still require several key clicks etc to restore a selected session. This would allow the end user a bit more flexibility and to provide more control over security/privacy. Instead Chrome now automatically logs you in to these sites if the Continue Where I Left Off otpion is used.Īt the time of this change there were numerous complaints/pleas to Google on their bug reporting system to add an option to allow Chrome users to restore tabs that were open in the last session, but not restore the session only cookiesl. That in my thinking is a better security than allowing anyone access to those sites such as Gmail and other sensitive sites which use Session Only cookies. After this change Chrome would restore the tabs but it would restore Session Only cookies which would mean that you would have to login again to those sites. I used to use the “Continue Where I Left Off” option which would restore the tabs that were open when the browser was closed. What really frustrated me so much with Chrome and the devs inflexible attitude is that over a year ago Google changed the behavoir of the browser.
